WSU CAMPUSWATCH Issue # 135
January 2011 Campus Crime Summary:
ROBBERY: On Wednesday, January 12th, 2011, a 54 year old male student reported that he was the victim of an Robbery Not Armed incident on E. Warren east of Woodward.
The student reports that on Wednesday, January 12th, 2011 at approximately 5:30pm, he was walking westbound on E. Warren east of Woodward. He attempted to pass 5 or 6 unknown males walking eastbound in the other direction. As he began passing the group of males on the sidewalk, one of the subjects punched him in the face, causing him to fall to the ground. One or two of the subjects then tried to pull the student’s backpack off him. The student refused to let go and was again struck in the face. The student surrendered the backpack and the group of males continued walking eastbound on E. Warren. The victim was only able to provide a general physical description…2 black males (one wearing a red billed hat) approximately 17 to 20 years of age.
WSUPD Officers responded immediately and began an area search. Two subjects, matching the general physical description provided, were stopped on Brush north of Warren. However, the student could not positively identify them and they did not have the student’s backpack in their possession at the time they were stopped. The student was not seriously injured, but did suffer a small laceration and abrasion on his face.
