Adams, Detroit, MI 48226 Free parking in the rear Visions of Peace 2011April 30 through June 4, 2011 Opening Saturday, April 30th 1:00 – 3:00pm Light refreshments will be served Visions of Peace, is a multi-media exhibit of student’s art created in support of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. This is the 19th year for this exhibit, which reflects the life’s work of Lillian Mellen Genser, a lifelong advocate for peace and social justice, and an inductee into the Michigan Women’s Hall of Fame. Participating artists range in age from pre-school to high school students and will represent more than 20 schools and groups from the metro Detroit area. The two floors of the Gallery will be filled with their inspiring and thoughtful art. Some pieces will be individual works and many others will be collaborative works. Curated by Tony Perez, the exhibit is co-sponsored by the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies at WSU, and Swords Into Plowshares Peace Center and Gallery. Gallery hours: Tues., Thurs. and Sat. from 11:00am to 3:00pm. Group visits or visits at non-scheduled times are welcome by appointment.
