Detroit Parent Network(Detroit, MI)

Reports To: Director of External Affairs

Salary Range: $27,000 – $32,000

Position Summary: This position is responsible for coordinating the membership outreach for Detroit Parent Network.The position will plan, develop, and administer outreach and membership activities to recruit and retain members to the organization. Membership activity includes the expansion of membership and the alignment with community and corporate promotions. The position also directly implements the monthly outreach activity including door to door walk and talk discussions within residents within the communities we serve. This process is intended to both educate the community at large on Detroit Parent Network, education issues, and to invite their involvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

·Support the Membership Department to meet membership objectives
·Implement a broad membership plan to recruit and retain members
·Implement strategies to recruit and sustain a diverse membership i.e. individuals, corporations, churches, schools, all ethnicities etc…
·Manage a membership retention plan
·Manage membership reporting and information distribution
·Manage the entry of new members and the timely distribution of new member  packets
·Provide monthly “new member Meet and Greets” using the agency historical presentation
·Organize DPN member events
·Represent DPN on assigned collaborative efforts
·Ensure Detroit Parent Network is represented at ALL community and school functions via information tables and presentations
·Develop a strong team of volunteers to assist with community coverage and membership recruitment
·Work closely with ALL DPN departments to ensure new members are connected to programs and services of DPN
·Connect new members to volunteer opportunities within DPN
·Implement satisfaction and evaluation surveys as required.
·Provide in-school presentations to parents and faculty for public, private,  Charter schools, or parochial schools each month
·Manage preparation of publicity to promote activities among parents such as outreach and recruitment, educational programs, leadership programs, and speaker’s bureau or other services.
·Participates in fund development activities including grant writing, researching and program design.

Competencies:

Candidates should have knowledge of membership management with a strong marketing and community outreach background. Potential candidate must understand how to engage parents and caregivers. Candidates should have knowledge of Detroit, Highland Park and Hamtramck, as well as other communities within Metro Detroit. Be aware of various community events and activities that commence throughout the year. Have experience running community organizing and outreach efforts. Potential candidate must understand how to work with schools successfully.

Education and/or Experience:

·Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; and/or four years experience and training
·Experience working with outreach campaigns; or community organizing with low-income populations; and
·Familiarity and knowledge of Microsoft Office / Website Management
