Erica Wright Scholarship Application
The Chadsey Condon Community Organization is pleased to announce the first annual Erica Wright Scholarship for Continuing Education. The Chadsey Condon Community Organization seeks to invest in neighborhood students who are committed to our neighborhood and improving the conditions of this community.
The Chadsey Condon Community Organization was created as a result of the Skillman Foundation’s Good Neighborhoods Initiative. The purpose of the Good Neighborhoods Initiative is to positively impact the lives of young people by ensuring they are healthy, safe, educated and prepared for adulthood. The Chadsey Condon Community Organization has developed four key focus groups to realize the goals of the Good Neighborhoods initiative. Our primary community goal is that all youth will have positive development opportunities at home, at school, and in their community.
This scholarship recognizes Erica Wright a highly regarded community servant and resident in the Chadsey Condon area for more than 35 years. Erica is the current the Executive Director or Westside Cultural & Athletic Club, an agency that strives to engage neighborhood children in positive and enriching activities. She has been influential voice for children in this community and an advocate for higher education. She continues to be an inspiration to her colleagues and neighbors. The Chadsey Condon Community Organization is proud to create this scholarship in her name, in the hopes that her work will continue to inspire the next generation to improve themselves and their neighborhood alike.
Seven scholarships of $1,000 will be provided to selected students that meet the following requirements
- Reside within the Chadsey Condon neighborhood boundaries: residences within 48208 and 48210.
- Demonstrate a commitment to community
- Demonstrate a commitment to working on improving conditions in the Chadsey Condon area
- Prove enrollment in an accredited college, technical, or vocational school for continuing education for Fall 2011
- Completed applications must be received by the Chadsey Condon Community Organization by Wednesday September 28, 2011 at 5 pm.
Selected scholars will be notified by ‘Wednesday, October 20th and will be asked to attend Chadsey Condon Community Organization annual meeting in early November. Scholars will be publicly recognized at this event.

Hello Central Woodward/North End!
There are a few changes on the horizon that I wanted to inform you about. The job bank section will redesigned and re-purposed. Jobs will be now be posted as regular community announcements. This way old jobs will not be deleted when the job bank section is updated. Links to jobs and job newsletters will now be posted in the job bank section.
We have a new contributor to the blog! Her name is Brenda Clark. She is a moderator of the job bank section. We are looking for more contributors!!! We would like to add a video of the week, picture of the week, community poetry, stories and recipes sections to the blog. Content is community generated! If you want to add something, send it to cwnenews@gmail.com.
