The Youth Justice Taskforce Presents: Food Justice Friday – Community Dinner
Spring Into Action March 3rd @ Focus: Hope at 12PM
On March 3rd the Central Woodward North End Safety Initiative of Focus: HOPE will launch its “Spring Into Action ” Annual event. This event will assist residents in determining “Whose Job Is It” when trying to address concerns at the community level to strengthen community policing efforts as well as seeking support and services on an individual level.
Residents and stakeholders of the CW/NE Community are invited to participate in an exciting and interactive event to learn the latest tools, news, and resources needed to building a safer community on March 3rd at 1400 Oakman, Focus: HOPE starting at 12 noon.
The Event is free of charge and food will be provided.
Please be sure to RSVP with Bridget Vance at vanceb@focushope.edu by March 1st for our food count.

Sierra Clubs Hosts Rainwater Workshop 2-21-12 at 6:30PM
Workshop: Use Rainwater to Save Money & Protect Water Quality Tuesday, February 21 from 6:30 to 7:30 PM Sierra Club Office; 2727 Second Avenue; (free parking available behind the building, enter door under blue light). Get ready for the spring! At this free workshop, you will see short videos of rainwater harvesting techniques (i.e. rain barrels, rain gardens, green roofs, permeable pavement, etc.) in Detroit and a demonstration that will explain how you can make your own rain barrel. Rain barrel will be raffled off for free at the end of the workshop.

“Growing Your Volunteer Program” Webinar 2-23-12 at 3PM w/the MCSC
February 23, 2012 at 3 p.m. Please join us on February 23, 2012 at 3 p.m. for a new series of volunteer management webinars hosted by The Volunteer Centers of Michigan in partnership with the Michigan Community Service Commission. “Growing Your Volunteer Program” is the first in a series of webinars pertaining to volunteer management.
As nonprofits consider the problem of program sustainability and capacity building, volunteers are an important part of the solution. Effective organizations seek to engage volunteers in a variety of roles and duties. This presentation provides information that organizations can use as they seek to implement a volunteer program. DTE 2012 Summer Student Employment Program Deadline Feb 27th
The company will accept applications for its popular 2012 Summer Student Employment program Feb. 13 to Feb. 27. The program is an important part of DTE Energy’s efforts to develop future talent for our company. It provides full-time, temporary employment opportunities for students who are either college undergraduates or high school seniors who will attend college in the fall. Students wishing to apply for an internship must complete an electronic Summer Student Questionnaire under Careers on the DTE website, www. dteenergy.com between Feb. 13 and Feb. 27. No paper applications will be accepted. When a student accepts an offer, he/she will receive instructions on how to complete the application packet from the recruiter with a specified completion date. Applicants also should know: Applications will not be available prior to Feb. 13. Students MUST provide a copy of their official transcript in order to be considered. Employee referrals are not required.
