Detroit Works Project Community Conversations
The Detroit Works Project is hosting a series Community Conversations across the city to provide an update on their progress and to listen to resident’s innovative ideas that will help to shape the future direction of our City. Along with a number of community leaders, I am working hard to ensure that you have access to information that is shaping the Detroit Works Project plan and that you have a voice in decisions that affect your neighborhood.
Saturday, April 21, you are encouraged to attend the first Community Conversation for the Central/Near East region of Detroit that is being held at Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries (3606 E. Forest Ave.) from 9:30 a.m.-noon. Refreshments will be served. Two additional conversations in May will build on the first, and we encourage you to attend all three if possible.
“Central / Near East Detroit” corresponds to the new City Council District 3, and includes: most of 48201, 48202, 48206, 48207, 48211, 48214, and some portions of 48201, 48208, and 48213.
These meetings offer an opportunity for you to provide information about your neighborhood that will shape the Detroit Works Project plan. While we cannot predict Detroit’s future, whatever system is in place, there will be an increasing need for residents to shape the future of your own neighborhoods, if we are going to retain or restore the quality of life in Detroit.
In addition, please take a look at the “DWP Imperatives” below attaching to better understand the work that is being undertaken. You are encouraged to disseminate these documents to your neighbors, colleagues, family and friends, and to encourage all to participate in these important meetings.
