To be eligible for this program, you must be:

*    Be a U.S. citizen
*    Be a full- or part-time continuing college or university junior, or graduate

*    Successfully complete a background investigation
*    Be able to receive and maintain either a Secret or Top Secret clearance.

PURPOSE: Ellis Stafford and Ron Reddy of the Detroit Crime Commission, and Matthew Bihun from the Southwest Detroit Business Association will join us for a discussion of new code enforcement initiatives underway in Detroit.

 

The upcoming Vacant Property Coalition meeting, which will take place on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 from 6-8pm at 8850 Woodward, will provide residents with an overview of the basic principles of code enforcement and nuisance actions, specifically within the context of Detroit. Furthermore, it will educate residents and community groups of the role that they play in addressing nuisances and code violations (i.e. observing, reporting, being persistent) and also the role that government plays in this process.

 

Ellis Stafford, Ron Reddy will share information regarding their organization’s unique approach to pursuing accountability from negligent property owners through nuisance actions. In addition, Matthew Bihun will discuss his organization’s participation in two nuisance suits.
