City Under Siege: A University Forum on the Crime Crisis In Detroit
On September 20 and 21, 2012, the Forum on Contemporary Issues in Society (FOCIS) at Wayne State University will present City Under Siege: A University Forum on the Crime Crisis in Detroit. The two-day symposium takes place on our Detroit campus and explores the concept of community policing as a strategy for reducing crime in urban areas such as Detroit.

Detroit Historic Neighborhoods Coalition Meeting
The September meeting of the DHNC (Detroit Historic Neighborhoods Coalition) will be held Thursday, September 20, at 6 p.m. at the Family Place, 8726 Woodward. Park in the rear and enter through the rear doors.
Our speaker is Mr. Nate Ford, head of BS and E (Buildings, Safety and Engineering), who will talk with us about how BS and E is involved with historic properties and code enforcement, as well as how BS and E polices and resolves the vacant building dilemma here in Detroit.

DLECTRICITY: Detroit’s NightTime Exhibition of Art + Light
DLECTRICITY is a new contemporary light art festival in the City of Detroit. For two nights, the historic architecture of Midtown will become the canvas for local, national, and international artists to display their cutting edge works of art. Over 35 projects will be shown including video projection, 3D video mapping, lasers, light sculpture, interactive design, performance, and more. The event is FREE to the public and open to all ages.

Urban Agriculture Community Meetings
The City of Detroit City Planning Commission and the Detroit Food Policy Council will hold three community meetings. Come learn about the proposed Urban Agriculture ordinance, ask questions, and share your opinions.
