About
The Central Woodward/North End (CW/NE) community is implementing an exciting and innovative strategy to improve their neighborhoods. The plan which is being implemented aspires to achieve both the vision residents painted as well as reflecting the urgency of action needed to stem disinvestment and curb population loss. Priorities are resident driven and encompass much more than the traditional bricks and mortar approach to community development. A new safety management program is making the neighborhood more secure. A community-based, wireless technology invention provides residents with access to the Internet and connects them to jobs and social services. Workforce development initiatives will link residents to employment opportunities. Residents have also developed an agenda to improve educational outcomes and opportunities for children to succeed.
The organizations that make up the collaborative are:
- Vanguard Community Development Corporation (CDC)
- Central Detroit Christian CDC
- Child Care Coordinating Council (4c)
- Focus: Hope
- New Center Council
